What does the
Rating System do and how does it work?
The Rating
System is a feature that allows a user to make a public comment about other
users whom that user has interacted with. This provides the Park Place
community with a means of policing itself and of promoting honesty.
Why should
I rate another user?
By rating
users that you have interacted with, you are helping to create a sense of
community at Park Place. All feedback comes from actual experiences that
users have had with each other. This in turn gives all users a chance to find
out a bit more about the people they are doing business with, which assists all
users in making an informed decision about conducting business with a particular
user in the future. It also helps set the standards for all users. You are
therefore providing a service to other users of our site, by partaking in the
Rating System.
How do I
rate a user?
You are only
able to rate another user that you have interacted with. We encourage you to
finish your transaction with the user before placing a rating about your
interaction with that person. Please keep in mind your overall experience as
well as each step in the transaction process.
A link is
provided in the winner's email if you are a Buyer or the End of Item Summary if
you are a Seller, which directs you to the Rating Area. Here you need to enter
your User name and Password and then enter your rating as positive, neutral or
negative. You may also enter a text comment to elaborate on your rating.
Please think
carefully about placing a negative rating about a user and only do so after
making reasonable attempts to resolve the issues you have with the relevant
user.
How do I
view a rating of a user?
This depends
upon whether the user is a Buyer or a Seller.
If the user
is a Seller, you can view that Seller's rating from the actual item page. Just
click on the link to view the rating of the Seller, which can be found on the
left hand side of the page alongside the bidding box.
If the user
is a Buyer, you can view that Buyer's rating from the actual item page. Just
click on the rating link next to the users User name to view his/her ratings.
Can I view my
own rating?
You can view your
own rating from the Member's Area of the site. Just login, and click on the
"View other Users comments about me" in the "User Details" section.
Rating
Rules
- You are
only permitted to rate a user who is a Seller if you have interacted with
that Seller, and if you were the successful bidder in an auction or buy now
and completed the purchase of those goods or services with that Seller ("Rating
Criteria"). You may not provide a rating for a Seller outside the Rating
Criteria.
- You are
only permitted to rate a user who is a Buyer if you have interacted with
that Buyer, and where that Buyer was the successful bidder in your auction
or buy now and with whom you have completed the sale of those goods or
services ("Rating Criteria"). You may not provide a rating for a
Buyer outside the Rating Criteria.
- Comments
and ratings cannot be edited once submitted. Therefore please be cautious
when adding your comment, as you are unable to edit it once you have
submitted it. You could also be held liable for damage's to the User if
legal proceedings are taken against you for your comment.
- You may
not abuse the rating system. Abuse of the system includes using accounts of
your friends or your own secondary accounts to lower the rating of another
member or raise your own rating. Threatening, abusive, racially vilifying,
discriminatory or profane language is also abuse of the system and is not
allowed.
We would like
to promote and preserve free speech and therefore will remove feedback only in
exceptional circumstances. Park Place reserves the right to delete any rating
at its sole discretion upon an investigation into the rating (although we are
not obliged to do so). If you feel that you have received an unfair rating or
you have evidence of any abuse of the Rating System, please contact us on
Support
and we will investigate the matter. Please note that this investigation may take
several weeks.
Circumstances
where Park Place may delete a rating include, but are not limited to:
- if the
rating contains any links to other pages or images or contains information
not related to interacting with the user on Park Place in accordance with
the Rating Criteria
- if the
rating contains adult material or profane, abusive, racially vilifying,
discriminatory or threatening language
- if we
are required by law to do so.
